Epic Anime Tattoos to Draw

The thing with tattoos is, they last a long time. Like, the-rest-of-your-life kind of long. So it makes sense that you'd only trust your skin with the best of the best. The most talented tattoo gunslingers in the wild, wild… UK.

But while there are tons of tattoo artists out there, it can be tough to find truly great ones. And even more difficult to find great ones that work in the style you have in mind.

Especially when that style is as niche as anime.

Lucky for you, The Yokaiju Crew have scoured the country looking for the best UK anime tattoo artists. Here are six we're desperate to get some ink from:

Bex Lowe

Studio: Minerva Lodge, Chester

Instagram: @bexlowetattoos

The quaint town of Chester is best known for its old English charm. Roman ruins. Medieval buildings. Relaxing walks down the river Dee.

And, thanks to Bex Lowe, it's now the home of incredible anime tattoos.

An anime fan through and through, Bex is brilliant at capturing characters in their coolest poses. Her clean black lines and masterful shading make every image look as vibrant as it would on screen.

Whenever you look at her work, you almost expect it to start moving.

As well as tattooing, Bex is also big into illustration, working on fan art of her favourite franchises in her spare time. If you've ever dreamed of being a Pokemon trainer, she'll draw you a personalised portrait with the pocket monster of your choice.

For more info on how to book in with Bex, or to commission some artwork, check out her Instagram or head over to her personal website.

Simon K Bell

Studio: Black Waltz, Liverpool

Instagram: @simonkbell

Less than an hour's drive from Chester is the iconic city of Liverpool, and the recently established Black Waltz tattoo shop.

Black Waltz founding member and specialist in otaku tattoos, Simon Bell's work is out of this world. We didn't even think it was possible to pack that much colour and detail onto someone's skin. Seriously, look at that blending!

From Attack On Titan to One Punch Man, no image is too complex for Simon's insane skills. His Dragon Ball tattoos are some of the most impressive we've seen.

Like Bex, Simon also does a lot of fan art on the side, with his digital illustrations on display at his personal website.

While you're there, you'll find details on how you can book in for a tattoo with Simon, too.

Dane Grannon

Studio: Horizon Tattoo Co, Hull

Instagram: @daneinks

On the opposite side of the country, at Horizon Tattoo in Hull, Dane Grannon is one of Yorkshire's finest.

Taking some seriously complex colour combinations in his stride, Dane's needlework makes the glow of Naruto's Rasengan and the sparks of Deku's One For All pop like neon lightning. It's difficult enough to achieve that effect on paper, nevermind on human skin.

To see more of Dane's work, check out his Instagram, or hit up the Horizon Tattoo Co Facebook page to contact the studio directly.

Josh Mcallister

Studio: Horizon Tattoo Co, Hull

Instagram: @mcallistertattoo

Sharing a studio with Dane is Josh Mcallister, the self-proclaimed 'resident weeb' of Horizon Tattoo Co.

Josh's signature designs take the most influential characters in anime and position them in an overflowing diamond or oval frame. The lines are so sharp and the colours so bright, we had to do a double take when we first saw them.

But for real, they're definitely tattoos.

You can get in touch with Josh at the same place as Dane, but he also has a personal site if you want to check that out too.

Andy Walker

Studio: Creative Vandals, Hull

Instagram: @4ndy_w4lker

Yet another Hull native with a knack for anime artwork is Andy Walker of Creative Vandals.

The Prince of Pop Culture, Andy's portfolio includes everything from comic characters to movie stars, but it's obviously his anime pieces that make us nerd out the most.

Another master of blending and shading, it's the use of bold white line highlights that really makes Andy's style stand out. Dragon Ball and Pokemon are his most frequently requested franchises, but he's also tattooed characters from One Piece, Tokyo Ghoul and more.

Want to book in? The Creative Vandals Facebook page has all of the info you need.

Chris Stockings

Studio: Legacy Tattoo, Suffolk

Instagram: @chrisstockings

For those of you who live down south, Chris Stocking is your man.

Anime tattoos with a neo traditional touch, Chris' work takes inspiration from the body artwork of old, opting for smaller pieces with big impact. Each tattoo is an eye-catching explosion of colour that uses modern techniques to impressive effect.

With a soft spot for Pokemon, he's tattooed Charmander, Raichu, Snorlax and more, but he isn't afraid to tackle other famous franchises for anyone who wants them. His Kaneki Ken and Kame House examples are two of our favourites by far.

You can check out more of Chris' work on his Instagram, or try the Legacy Ink website for merch and contact details.
